Reginald Fields was born in 1912 in Orange, New Jersey. His father was a gardener, and Reginald became a gardener as well. He married Gladys Hampton in 1948 and they purchased a home and 1/2 acre of land on Smith Street.
In 1964, Reginald stated to a Courier News reporter, “It’s no use trying to fight it. It is my home, but when the State or Town does something, that’s it.” The Fields sold their home to the Town of Westfield a few months later and moved to Plainfield. |
