Spring has finally arrived. New leaves, flowers, and birds are partying at Brightwood Park everyday, rain or shine.
When I went to the park in March, there were at least 3 pairs of wood ducks in the large pond. Compared to the ones I saw in the past couple of years, these ones are not timid at all. They seem to claim the pond as their property, and would not fly away when both sides of the pond have people watching them. This is the mating season of several kinds of water fowls. The geese are making noise and chasing each other. The ducks are less aggressive and instead are intimate to each other. The male wood ducks appeared very handsome. I was tempted to ask them for the information of their hair- dresser(s). At the hour of sunset, a female downy woodpecker was still working hard to fill her tummy. Comments are closed.
